Cookies are small records a site stores in the browser and receives back with later requests. They are needed to recognise the browser on return visits, keep you signed in and collect statistics.
localStorage is browser storage whose entries are not sent to the server automatically. Entries stay there until the browser data is cleared or the Site removes them.

Server cookies are set with the HttpOnly and SameSite flags and are not accessible to page scripts.
The Site uses Yandex.Metrica (Yandex LLC). It sets its own cookies (_ym_uid, _ym_d, _ym_isad, _ym_visorc and others) with a lifetime of up to one year and collects anonymised statistics: pages viewed, referrer, device and browser, actions on the page. Webvisor is enabled — a recording of the interaction with the page; the content of input fields is masked.
Yandex.Metrica is loaded only after you click “Accept” in the cookie notice. If you close the notice with the cross, analytics is not loaded and its cookies are not set.

The map is loaded from Mapbox servers (Mapbox Inc., USA). Mapbox does not set cookies on the Site, but when the map loads it receives the IP address and technical details of your browser, like any server your browser contacts. The Site does not work without the map, so this cannot be switched off in the Site settings.
3.1. On the first visit the Site shows a notice with an “Accept” button and a cross. “Accept” enables analytics, the cross keeps only necessary cookies. The choice is saved in the browser and the notice is not shown again.
3.2. You can change your decision at any time: the “Cookie settings” link in the About panel opens the notice again. To stop Metrica that has already loaded, reload the page after closing the notice with the cross.
3.3. You can delete or block cookies in the browser settings. Blocking necessary cookies makes signing in impossible.
3.4. You can opt out of Yandex.Metrica on all sites with the “Yandex.Metrica: opt-out” extension: https://yandex.ru/support/metrika/general/opt-out.html.
The Operator may change the Policy. The current version with its date is always published at https://thescouts.ru/en/cookies.html. If new analytics or third-party cookies are added, the Site asks for consent again.
